Parimaan is a meal-planning and pantry app for households, currently in private beta in India. It is operated by Tatva Research, a sole proprietorship in India (“we”, “us”). This page explains, in plain language, what the app collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. It describes what the beta actually does today; if that changes, we will change this page first.
What we collect
Your account
You sign in with "Continue with Google". Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us through our sign-in provider, Amazon Cognito. We never see your Google password.
What you put into your household
- Your household's name and the people who have joined it (name and email).
- Household settings: which meals you plan, cuisine and dietary preferences, allergens and ingredients you'd like to skip.
- Pantry items and quantities, recipes, meal plans and shopping lists.
Photos you choose to analyse
If you use the photo pantry feature, the photo you take of a kitchen shelf is uploaded so it can be read. We use it only for that analysis.
Technical data
Our servers keep the ordinary operational records needed to run and secure the service: request timestamps, error records and usage counters that enforce daily limits. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. We do not use advertising trackers in the app or on this site.
How we use it
- To run the app: syncing your pantry, plan and list across your household's phones.
- To power the features you ask for: reading a shelf photo, suggesting recipes from your pantry, turning a pasted note or link into a recipe, and writing the shopping list's staples note.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix bugs.
We do not sell your data, and we do not show advertising.
AI features
When you use an AI feature, the content that feature needs is sent to Google's Gemini API to produce a proposal for you to review:
- Photo pantry: the shelf photo you took.
- Recipe import: the text you paste, or the text of the web page whose link you provide.
- Cook from pantry: your pantry item names and your household's dietary, allergen and skip-ingredient preferences.
- Staples note: the titles, roles and ingredients of the recipes in your plan.
We use Google's paid API tier. Google's published terms for paid API use state that content sent through it is not used to train Google's models; please see Google's own terms for the authoritative statement. Shelf photos are kept only while they are being analysed and are deleted straight afterwards, with an automatic one-day expiry as a backstop. AI output is only ever a proposal: nothing is saved to your pantry or recipe library until you confirm it.
Where your data lives and who handles it
- Amazon Web Services, Mumbai region (ap-south-1): our database, file storage, sign-in and API. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Google: sign-in with your Google account, and the Gemini API for the AI features above.
Who else can see your data
Everyone in your household sees the same pantry, plan, recipes and list, and can see the name and email of the other members. We don't share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your data while your household exists. The household's primary member can delete the household from within the app, which removes its pantry, recipes, plans and lists. Database backups are kept for seven days, so deleted data can remain in a backup for up to that long before it is overwritten.
To have your account removed, or to get a copy of the data we hold about you, email parimaanapp@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, and to raise a grievance about how it is handled. Write to us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Parimaan is meant for adults who run a household. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Parimaan handles data, we will update this page and its date, and tell beta users in the app for material changes.
